The Contemporary Portrait: April 22, 23, 24
This course is designed to teach methods of drawing the portrait. Discussions will include issues concerning contemporary portraiture and how traditional drawing skills lay the groundwork for further experimentation. Students will be working from a live portrait model. We will be doing quick studies, learning proportional measuring, planes of the face, construction of facial features, shading and more.

Chris will be teaching a 3-day workshop at the Carmel Art Institute from April 26 to 28th. The workshop will explore the various techniques involved in the construction of a painting, consideration of mood, object relationships, and lighting, and limited palettes. Each student will have the opportunity to create their own painting from a still life based on the techniques and ideas introduced.
Class size is limited to allow for greater individual instruction.

The certificate can be sent as hard copy or emailed to you as a file. Payments can be done by PayPal. The receiver of the gift can set up a time for a first lesson to suit his/her schedule.
Book a first lesson and get a discount. Private lessons are normally $60, the discounted price is $50. You don’t have to book more than one lesson to try it out. if you feel like continuing you can book lessons from time to time to suit your schedule. You can also pay 6 lessons in advance and get a discounted fee.
A lot of people would like to take art lessons, but find themselves with precious little time in the week. Eliminate time on transport and book a first lesson. Materials are provided, although if you already have art materials and tools we can use yours. A list of necessary things will be provided. You don’t have to have a real art studio space, a dedicated corner of a room is fine for setting up a small easel and start drawing or painting!
