The Contemporary Portrait: April 22, 23, 24
This course is designed to teach methods of drawing the portrait. Discussions will include issues concerning contemporary portraiture and how traditional drawing skills lay the groundwork for further experimentation. Students will be working from a live portrait model. We will be doing quick studies, learning proportional measuring, planes of the face, construction of facial features, shading and more.
Please check here for more info.
Hope to see you!
Chris will be teaching a 3-day workshop at the Carmel Art Institute from April 26 to 28th. The workshop will explore the various techniques involved in the construction of a painting, consideration of mood, object relationships, and lighting, and limited palettes. Each student will have the opportunity to create their own painting from a still life based on the techniques and ideas introduced.
Class size is limited to allow for greater individual instruction.

A lot of people would like to take art lessons, but find themselves with precious little time in the week. Eliminate time on transport and book a first lesson. Materials are provided, although if you already have art materials and tools we can use yours. A list of necessary things will be provided. You don’t have to have a real art studio space, a dedicated corner of a room is fine for setting up a small easel and start drawing or painting!
